
The Peace Operation Center (POC) of Royal Thai Armed Forces (RTAF), Bangkok Thailand successfully conducted the United Nations Military Observer Course (UNMOC) 2025 with 33 local course participants. Lt Col Hairul bin Aziz, the Senior Directing Staff (SDS) from the MPC, has been involved in supported the course as an Exchange Instructor, alongside two other officers from Germany & Canada.
Held at the POC & Royal Thai Army Infantry School from 13 until 31 January, 2025. The course aimed to equip participants for their roles as Military Observers (MILOB) in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (UN PKO). Focus was placed on Pre-Deployment Training (PDT) to ensure that participants gained the necessary skills and knowledge for effective deployment.
The development of the UNMOC syllabus more focusing on Special Training Materials (STM) that provided by United Nations Integrated Training System (ITS) has been delivered to course participants to acquire knowledge and skills set for an effective and efficient deployment as a MILOB. A Field Training Exercise (FTX) simulated real-world challenges faced in UN PKO, offering evaluations tailored to the specific responsibilities of MILOBs. The FTX was held in Royal Thai Army Infantry School in Hua Hin District, Thailand to ensuring they are well-prepared for missions in UN PKO and other international security operations.
The course was officially closed by Major General Chumphot Nurakkate, Director of RTAF POC on 31st Jan 2025 at Royal Thai Army Infantry School. This collaboration between Malaysia and Thailand marks a significant milestone in strengthening ASEAN efforts to promote peace and security in the region and globally.
