
The Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre (MPC) has successfully hosted the Negotiation & Mediation Course Serial 1/2024, in collaboration with the United States Institute of Peace (USIP). Mr. Gbenga Oni, the Subject Matter Expert (SME) from USIP, has led the course along with 3 other USIP facilitators from 08th July until 12th July 2024. 28 Course Participants (CP) attended this course comprising of 25 local CPs from the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and 3 CPs from Royal Malaysian Police (RMP).
The course is designed to prepare all CPs with necessary knowledge, skills, tools and techniques required to become an efficient negotiator and mediator. This course has provided a comprehensive framework to increase effectiveness and productivity in negotiation & mediation processes. The understanding on Cultural, Gender issues and Thematic issues in the conflict area such Conflict Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) and Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) has been applied for the CPs to considerate in their communication & negotiation strategies, for a successful outcome.
The course was officially closed on 12th July 2024 by Col Noor Azman bin Haji Yahya, the Commandant of MPC. Also present are the representative from the Royal Malaysian Police.
