The Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre (MPC) successfully hosted the United Nations Staff Officer Course Serial 1/2024, in collaboration with the Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI), United States. Mr. Julian Duncan Bower, the Subject Matter Expert (SME) from GPOI, has led the course along with 2 other GPOI instructors and MPC Instructors throughout a 3-week period from 27th May until 12th June 2024. 28 Course Participants (CP) attended this course comprising of 22 local CPs from the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), 2 CPs from Royal Malaysian Police (RMP), and 4 International CPs from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

The course is designed to prepare all CP with necessary knowledge and skills to perform the Military Staff Officer duty effectively and professionally, whenever deploy to a peacekeeping mission. Integrated Staff Exercise (INSTEX) was conducted during the last week of the course as a highlight of the event by simulating the real situation scenario, aiming for CP to experience the staff functions at the Force and Sector Headquarters level by implementing the principle, procedure and legal aspect within UN environment, as well as practising the Decision Making Process through the Military Planning Process.

The course was officially closed on 12th June 2024 by Brig Gen Hjh Fadzillah binti Hj Abdullah RMAF, the Director General of Malaysian Armed Forces Defence Training. Also present are Col Noor Azman bin Haji Yahaya, Commandant of MPC, the Indonesian Defence Attache Assistant, Mayor Inf Prasidha Sandya Perwira, and representative from the Royal Malaysian Police.
